Fill an empty heart

Situation: A young woman I know has a problem; it's called Bulimia. She has the purging mostly under control and rarely engages in it any more. But she exercises excessively. This is obviously much better, especially since she's in the Army and being physically fit is very valued. But I care about this woman and the Lord revealed to me recently that the root of her problem is that she's trying to fill up an empty place in her soul with food.

Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-20 (NLT)
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Prayer:
Father, I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower _____ with inner strength through Your Spirit.
May Christ make His home in _______'s heart as she trusts in Christ. May _____'s roots will grow down into Your love. Father, keep _______ strong. I recognize that only if You grant it, if You empower, can we understand Your love. Father, please bless and empower ______ that she may have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. Oh Father, let her experience the love of Christ. Make _____ complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You.

Now all glory be Your, You are able, through Your mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory be Yours in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Peace and the building of Character

Situation: Young man I know & love dearly was having daily life challenges; humidity, slow long lines, irritating people. I felt led to pray peace for him.

Word:
Romans 5:1-5 (NIV):
1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, wehave peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Prayer:
Father I thank You that you have given _____ peace with You through Jesus. I pray that he would experience Your peace. Father, may the tough and annoying times in his life produce perseverance, character, and hope. May Your hope not disappoint him. May he recognize and experience the love You have poured out into his heart by Your Holy Spirit.
